Why Portugal?
One of Europe's most popular corners is Portugal, neighbouring Spain and in the western part of the Iberian peninsular, it enjoys a cool lifestyle with a hot climate. The Silver coast is especially good as it is warm and sunny all year round. The 1970's is when the Algarve first came into our attention. Back then it was a abandoned place with fishing villages and very few towns, Albuferia in central Algarve, Lagos to the west and Tevria to the east, then the first development started known as the Vale de lobo golf resort, an award winner and home to multi-million euro properties. Golf resorts can now be seen dotted along Algarve's coastline. If you head inland you'll find cheaper prices (go inland by Algarve's new motor way, as part of their new transport infrastructure), inwards towards Lisbon and the Silver coast. Also known as Oeste, which is the home of, high cliffs, awesome waves and winds making it ideal for surfers and spectacular beaches in spectacular coves, but if you travel on further north past the charming city of Porto, along the coastline, and into the Spanish boarder, buyers will find a rural bargain of stone cottages but in need of a certain restoration.
